Wrexham & Shropshire Passengers Called To Feed Back On Catering

Hot on the heels of launching its first new train, Wrexham & Shropshire continues to change the face of on board dining with new proposals to allow standard class passengers the chance to order full cooked meals before travelling.
Wrexham & Shropshire is the only train company in the country to offer a full dining service for passengers on every train it runs. First class passengers enjoy a complimentary meal with their ticket. Standard class passengers can currently buy a meal, but subject to availability on the day.
The new proposals, which are up for consultation on the website, will allow standard class passengers booking tickets online to also order their meal. They can choose from a menu of starters and main courses, all created from locally sourced ingredients. Then, when on board, Wrexham & Shropshire stewards will serve their freshly cooked meal direct to their seat – without the fuss of queuing at the buffet and fiddling for change.
Diane Davidson, Wrexham & Shropshire’s Customer Services Manager, said: “At a time when parts of the UK network are witnessing the death of the dining car, Wrexham & Shropshire is determined to enhance the dining experience. We want all our passengers to have the chance to tuck into our Welsh lamb and mint sauce! If implemented the new proposals would be an industry first, proving our commitment to offering a modern and convenient service to suit today’s traveller.”
Now that the first refurbished train is in passenger service, Wrexham & Shropshire is keen to hear passengers’ views about on-board catering to enable them to make further improvements. Those wishing to take part can provide feedback via the consultation form on the website www.wrexhamandshropshire.co.uk
