Activities in Shrewsbury

Look up and around and feast your eyes on the historic detail and decoration. We have guided tours and trails to help you see the best and make the most of our lovely county town.

You can admire Shrewsbury's magnificent riverside park - home to the world famous Shrewsbury Flower Show - a place of quiet enjoyment where you can take leisurely walks by the water and appreciate the sounds of a Sunday brass band and the stunning colours of floral displays in The Dingle.

May we guide you?
Walking tours with Shrewsbury's official town guides reveal stories, characters and events which shaped the history of our lovely town. You'll soon learn why the people who live here love it so much. Alternatively, you can follow a guided ghost trail and hear tales of Spooky Shrewsbury.

Blue Remembered Hills
Walk up them, fly over them, ride across on wheels or hoofs, for a memorable experience of the beautiful countryside around Shrewsbury. The Shropshire Hills are one of the few remaining rural idylls and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Not surprisingly many folk find Shropshire the perfect place to learn something new - all that beauty is quite inspiring. Study centres like Preston Montford, Thresholds and the Gateway offer short courses, study days and summer schools in outdoor and indoor pursuits. You can study and practice English Language; or find your Shropshire roots in the county Records and Research Centre.

Of course you don't have to do any of these things. Just being in the Shropshire countryside might be considered pleasure enough. Indeed.
